Banners – Undeservedly Overlooked
Banners are an excellent advertising medium. At the same time, they are among the advertising tools most often overlooked by small and medium-sized businesses in Bulgaria. Compared with their cost, banners deliver excellent advertising impact, provided a few simple rules are followed when they are created:
1. Banners can be printed on more than just vinyl
When many clients hear the word “banner,” they think of the rough, glossy, low-quality vinyl they have become accustomed to seeing over the years. Banners—especially those intended for indoor use—no longer need to be printed on such low-quality materials. Today, every reputable print shop, including ours, can offer specialized banner media such as gray-back polypropylene film and thin matte vinyl for high-quality printing. These materials are very affordable, yet look significantly more luxurious and are well suited to stylish advertising messages.
2. Keep it short and clear
When it comes to banners, less is more. A banner measuring one by two meters will not have room for all the text from your latest brochure. Choose the most important sentence and print only that.
3. Visual appeal
Make passersby stop and look. Trust a professional designer to create a suitable, attractive design for your banner. Give your clients something to think about and spark their curiosity.
4. Make your banners easy to read
This advice does not contradict point 3—quite the opposite. A visually appealing banner must also be readable. Write three sentences, edit them down to two, and use a large, legible typeface.
5. Decide how the banner will be mounted before printing it
It is frustrating to order a banner only to discover that there is nowhere to hang it. When communicating with an advertising agency such as ours, always bring a photograph and exact measurements of the location where you plan to install the banner. Designers and installers are best placed to advise you on how the advertising material should be mounted.
6. Will it be used outdoors?
When ordering a banner for outdoor use, always ask the print shop what material will be used and whether it is resistant to moisture, wind and other weather conditions.
7. Colored background and white text
This is one of the basic “rules” of banner design. The color attracts attention, while white text remains clearly readable against a bright background.
8. Your company name, logo and address matter most
No matter how beautiful a banner’s design may be, clients will not be able to find you if it does not include your company’s contact information.
